Addis Wiley spent 26 years serving as a bus operator in New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). He drove buses across the five boroughs of New York City as well as in New Jersey. Since retiring in 2023, Addis Wiley has spent his leisure time exploring a variety of hobbies, including fitness and basketball.
Early in his career, Mr. Wiley worked in data entry and construction. As a data entry professional in the Dun & Bradstreet subsidiary Erisco, he was in charge of logging and sorting medical files. In 1995, he joined Techno Construction Company, gaining skills related to construction of storm sewers and resurfacing streets.
Inspired by fitness pioneer Jack LaLanne, Addis Wiley developed his own comprehensive training methodology called "Camp Wiley: The Addis Method." This system emphasizes determination, instant results, and success based on the principle that 21 days creates habits that become lifestyles. His passion for helping others led him to become an informal trainer for coworkers. Additionally, Mr. Wiley is a chess enthusiast. He has played over 50,000 games across three decades, winning the MLK Chess Tournament Trophy on Staten Island in 2015.
